A group of residents in Tyburn had set up weekly activities within their housing accomodation to encourage residents to leave their room and join the community playing cards, darts, do arts and crafts and have a meal together. The group felt they could do more to get isolated people involved, and encourage more residents to get involved with the weekly activities and so after seeing a flyer about the Ageing Better in Birmingham programme they contacted our Tyburn hub and spoke to Phil who works there. After some initial conversations, they applied to the Ageing Better Fund.
With the help of the fund, the group has now set up a skittle alley and are organising weekly competitions, games and social gatherings. They get residents and people from the community involved by advertising in the common room, knocking on doors and by putting posters in GP's and the local post office.
The alley provides gentle exercise and allow family members and friends to join in on the fun as well!
